History of Thanksgiving



Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated by people in the Western hemisphere. The celebration that started in 1621 by the English Plymouth Pilgrim colonists and the Wampanoag Indians were known now as Thanksgiving. Back in those days, the food that they had included venison and fowl. It is a tradition of celebrating the harvest and giving thanks for the success of crops.





Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada, and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. In year 2008, in Canada, Thanksgiving is on October 13, whereas in year 2009 Thanksgiving is on October 12.
